Jetion 2010 results to exceed expectations

AIM-quoted solar cells and modules manufacturer Jetion Solar Holdings says that its 2010 profit will “substantially exceed market expectations” but 2011 appears likely to be difficult.

Trading in November and December was ahead of expectations. There was some slowdown in December but that is a seasonal thing. Raw materials prices have stabilised, which is good news for Jetion Solar.

However, the removal of subsidies in Europe is placing downward pressure on the sales prices of solar modules. Strong demand in Europe fuelled the growth in 2010.

This will hamper trading in the first quarter of 2011 and could continue to make trading tough further into the year.

The market has focused on the good news and the share price has risen since the trading statement was published.
