Small power plants are falling behind expectations in terms of energy production, according to Aymoré Alvim de Castro Filho, a specialist in regulation at the National Agency of Electrical Energy (Aneel). Castro Filho told delegates at the Wind Forum Brazil 2011 that small producers, a pool of producers which includes small hydropower, wind and biomass plants, generated a total of 1,500MW, against initial projections of 4,300MW. Castro Filho indicated that this could be due to delays in projects, as well as flaws in the methods employed to calculate output at wind farms.
