CPFL Renováveis is planning an IPO acording to Valor Econômico. The company, one of the leading Latin American players in the renewable energy sector (focusing on hydro, wind and biomass), is currently owned by CPFL Geração, CPFL Brasil, Pátria Investimentos, Eton Park (a North American fund), FIP Brasil Energia, Banco Bradesco de Investimento, DEG (the German Development Bank affiliated with KfW) and GMR Empreendimentos Energéticos.

CPFL is understood to be planning a fund raising of R1.5bn according to market rumours (and reported in the Brazilian press). The company has not confirmed the rumours.

CPFL Renováveis has expanded rapidly in wind, through a series of acquistions and through the construction of projects. With the recent acquistion of Bons Ventos in Rio Grande do Sul, from Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios, CPFL's portfolio in wind amounted to 29 projects, with four operational and 25 under constructions. CPFL's projected installed capacity in wind by 2014 recently stood at 670 MW according to the company.
